"To Their Watery Graves ..."
I've had the pleasure of being invited to participate in an art exhibit for which the theme is any interpretation of "Traveling Soles."
I chose to exercise poetic and phonetic license (with the curators' blessing) by interpreting the idea as Travelling Souls and, thus, this piece was born.
The image has been seared in my mind for years; I only hope I did it justice.

Hi, did you mean "souls" instead of soles? i immediately grasped the coffled bodies in the hull of a slave ship crossing the water and these are the dead or near dead being thrown overboard.
